For many people who have led lives of distinction, a private funeral is followed by a more public memorial service, but even for the rest of us, it is increasingly common for there to be a later, less formal – often very jolly – occasion, either in the form of a service to celebrate your life or a completely secular event, where those you knew can get together to meet and reminisce as well as celebrate, perhaps with a speech or two, music and readings. For details of both these, please again see When Death Occurs elsewhere in Lasting Point.
